Private Mountainside Cabin: The Cabin at Edelweiss Creek

I think something everyone should do at some point in their life is book a romantic weekend in a cabin with their lover. That’s exactly what I got the opportunity of doing at the cozy Edelweiss Creek Cabin, which is a lovely cabin escape tucked in the scenic mountain town of Golden.

I’m definitely just making a guess, but I have a feeling Golden, British Columbia could turn into the next Banff… It’s got a long way to go, but its small town charm paired with the spectacular views and surrounding activities offers the perfect tucked away escape, and if you’re wanting an authentic Cabin experience, this is the place to visit.

This was a few hours out of Calgary (just long enough to get through a well-made playlist), and was fairly straight forward to get to, and the host (who was lovely at communicating with us) set it up great. As you enter, you get into the mud-room/ bathroom entrance, and as you walk around the corner, the cabin reveals itself to you.

A beautiful kitchen (with lots of appliances) leads into a cozy room with a wood-burning stove, and the decor suits that of a what you’d expect from a cute log-cabin (I personally loved the guitar and think the wolf-hide suited the space). Out the back is a deck and a hot-tub with a view that spans the snowy ski path carved mountains of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (and I'm not going to lie, it definitely enticed me to want to ski). One of the fun things about this location is that the bed is in the loft, which you can roll a wooden ladder up to so you can climb in (and it’s also nice because the heat rises to keep it warm in the winter.)

Although it’s not directly in Golden town, the location was nice in the sense that we had no direct neighbors, so felt comfortable singing and laughing loudly over board games with a bottle of wine, and Hamish even claims he saw a bobcat hopping through the snow in the yard area when he looked out the window (in face… he actually at first thought he saw a kitten that was bigger than a cat, with no tail and large paws, hahaha).

Waking up surrounded by nature was lovely, but I have to admit, the easy to use americano machine truly stole our hearts (no need to venture into town to find a cafe)! Hamish and I spent the morning sipping coffee in the hot tub before finally deciding to get to our day, and we left feeling refreshed.

This cabin hold a close place in our hearts, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have spent a weekend here! Next time you’re in Golden, instead of booking a hotel, consider adding this AirBNB to your list!

Have safe travels and enjoy your adventure!

Cheers,

Chloë
